What to Bring for Parade Day
Even in December, Valley afternoons can be sunny one minute and chilly the next. Pack:
- Layers. A light jacket or sweatshirt you can take on and off
- A blanket or folding chairs for curbside seating
- Sunscreen and hats for the sunny stretches
- Water and snacks for the kids
- Wipes for sticky fingers (and sticky jackets!)
Parade-Day Laundry Tips from the Pros
Hot cocoa and candy cane stains. Blot (don't rub!), rinse from the back with cold water, and work in a little liquid detergent. Let it sit a few minutes, then wash. Skip the dryer until the stain is gone.
Grass and dirt on your picnic blanket. Shake it out well outside first. Pretreat grass stains with an enzyme stain remover, then wash according to the care label. Big blankets need room to move, so use a large washer.
Sunscreen smudges on collars. Sunscreen is oily. Work in a drop of liquid dish soap, let it sit, rinse, and wash.
Marching in the parade? Costumes, uniforms, and float-building clothes can get dusty and sweaty. Check care labels and wash them soon after the parade so stains don't set.
